About the day
Now in its sixth year, Russell Rocks the Block filled the lawn at John Hope Community Center with a job fair, health screenings, voter registration, a community resource fair, a vendor marketplace, food, music and a bouncy house. Free admission, free parking, rain or shine, and this year the sun cooperated.
Presented by Russell Family Enterprises. Partners include Coca-Cola, Soccer in the Streets, Atlanta Housing, the Atlanta University Center Consortium, the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs, Concessions International, Proof of the Pudding, Black Voters Matter and Morehouse School of Medicine.
What we got into
We ran a Reel Kidz demo out of the booth for four hours straight. Parents signed kids up on the spot. The puppets came, cameras rolled, and Fish Frye met more people in one afternoon than he usually does in a month.
